Visitor guidelines at Ascension Saint Thomas Hickman
Our visitation policy allows us to provide a safe environment, high-quality care, and positive experiences when and where our patients need us.
Additional information for visitors
- Visiting hours are generally from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. there are times when a patient will need privacy for receiving care or for resting. The staff may ask you not to visit during these times.
- Minor children (less than 14 years old), and visitors with special needs, must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
- If you are visiting a patient who is on isolation precautions, you will be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the patient's room. Children under 14 will not be allowed to visit patients in isolation.
- Visitors showing signs or symptoms of infection or illness should not visit. Symptoms of illness could include cough, fever, runny nose, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, or sore throat.
- Certain areas of the hospital, including the NICU, PICU, ER, labor and delivery, and surgery may have additional guidelines for visitors.
Unit specific visitor guidelines
- ICU: Any Ascension Saint Thomas hospital with an intensive care unit has the following visitor guidelines: Two visitors per patient
- Mother/Baby: Ascension Saint Thomas hospitals with birthing centers (Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, and Ascension Saint Thomas River Park) have their own visitor guidelines.
- Med Surg: The number of visitors must not impede patient care.
- Emergency Department: Two visitors per patient.
- Surgery: The number of visitors must not impede patient care.
