Spiritual Care

Healing is more than curing the body. Healing is also seeking peace in body, mind, spirit, and relationships.

“Our Catholic Health Ministry is dedicated to spiritually-centered, holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities.” Saint Agnes Ascension Mission Statement

The Spiritual Care Department at Saint Agnes Healthcare includes priests, chaplains, and volunteers. We exist to support patients, families and staff. We offer spiritual and emotional care and support, helping people experience the presence and companionship of God, creating a time and place for healing. We help each person to draw on his or her own faith tradition for strength, comfort and meaning, or simply provide our own peaceful presence in difficult times. Chaplains are trained to be with people who are in crisis or grief. We can help people to think over ethical concerns and difficult decisions. We can be with patients and families when they meet with doctors to talk about what kind of care a patient wants. We can celebrate with those who are joyful. We have experience in reverently and respectfully supporting people who come from a variety of faith traditions and those who do not profess a particular faith.

The Spiritual Care Department can arrange for you to receive sacraments. We offer prayer, counsel, and religious rituals. We can help you connect with your own faith community. Bibles, Rosaries, and other devotional materials are available on most units. Some resources are in Spanish. Ask a staff member for what you would like, or contact us at 667-234-3197, 8-4:30, Monday-Friday.

Saint Agnes Chapel

The Saint Agnes Chapel is located on the first floor, near the visitor elevators, coffee shop, and Walgreen’s Pharmacy.

Saint Agnes patients, families and associates visit the chapel for private prayer throughout the day. We invite you to visit, and, if you wish, to write your own prayers or intentions to our book of personal intentions at the back of the chapel.
