Our history

Serving Maryland for more than 160 years, Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital has been dedicated to the art of healing by providing exceptional care to the greater Baltimore area. Saint Agnes Hospital was founded in 1862 by the Daughters of Charity to meet the health needs of the poor. At the time it was the first Catholic hospital in Baltimore. Built on a strong foundation of excellent medical care and compassion, Ascension Saint Agnes and the doctors who practice here are committed to providing the best care for our patients for many years to come.
