High-risk Pregnancy Care
Our care team of MFM specialists, OB GYN doctors, and specially trained nurses help expectant mothers who have an existing condition like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, or heart disease. Neonatologists and pediatric specialists are also part of the team if the baby has a fetal condition.
Every pregnancy is unique, and your care team will make a personalized plan for you and your baby, sharing it with your doctor. You receive special care and support to make sure you have the safest possible pregnancy and delivery.
At Ascension Ascension St. Vincent, there is a neonatal intensive care and special care nurseries. We also provide many other MFM services, including:
- Personalized care plan by the MFM doctors and multi-disciplinary team
- Routine and targeted ultrasound examinations• Genetic counseling
- Prenatal screenings and fetal diagnostic testing
- Abdominal cerclage (transabdominal cerclage – TAC) procedure used to help prevent miscarriage
- Co-management of diabetic pregnancies
- Coordinated care with the St. Vincent Maternity Services nurse navigator
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
We can also provide critical care for newborns who need extra attention at our Level III NICU. We are there to take care of you if there are risks or difficulties, such as a baby arriving sooner than expected. Our NICU is supported by MFM specialist, OB doctors, neonatologists and Peyton Manning Children's Hospital pediatric specialists who coordinate care for early and critically ill newborns.
Our Level IV NICU at St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis is one of only two top-ranked Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Indiana. We are the only women’s medical hospital to also provide a Level IV Perinatal Center. This combination offers best-in-care-practices to both mother and baby at all stages of the pregnancy and throughout labor and delivery.
