Cardiac rehabilitation, or cardiac rehab, is a comprehensive program designed to improve heart health following a cardiac event or procedure. An optimal cardiac rehab journey consists of 36 one-hour sessions that include supervised exercise training, education and skills-development for heart-healthy living, as well as counseling on stress and other psychosocial factors. Participation in a cardiac rehab program improves mobility, quality of life, mood, and medication compliance, in addition to reducing the risks of death or hospital readmission.
