Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

• How do I get an appointment?
You may call 205-939-7800 to speak to an associate who will be happy to assist you.

• How can I have my old records transferred to Page, Hudson & Taylor Gynecology at St. Vincent’s?
Please click HERE to download the Medical Information Release Form. Complete the form and email, mail or fax it to your current provider.

• What are the advantages of coming to a Gynecology only practice?
Generally, waiting times are shorter because your physician will not have to leave unexpectedly for a delivery. Most OB-GYN practices require a larger number of physicians and staff. Our smaller office and staff allows you to experience a more personal environment. We focus on the non-pregnant woman, and are dedicated to staying current with the most advanced techniques in women’s care. Our physicians are all trained to perform surgical procedures including hysterectomy and myomectomy with the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System.

• What should I expect at my first appointment?
Expect that we are excited to provide you care in a warm and friendly environment. Our physicians and staff want to assist you in making decisions about your health. We will gather your information, which we then store electronically for easy access. We then perform a physical exam if needed. We will talk with you to learn what is important to you and discuss your care plan. To ensure that you also have quick and easy access to results, this information will be available in a personal and private patient portal for your review.

• How long does it take to get an appointment?
Typically, we have same day or next day appointments available for problem visits. If your primary physician is unable to see you, then any of our Board Certified physicians or our Certified Nurse Practitioner would be happy to see you to eliminate any waiting for you. Routine yearly exams can usually be scheduled within a few days.

• Can my mammogram be done with my annual exam?
We have an arrangement with St. Vincent’s North Tower Imaging that allows our patients to visit immediately following their annual exam. A radiologist will review your advanced digital mammogram.

• How can I get my test results (pap smear, labwork, mammogram, etc.)?
There is a secure link on our website that will take you to the St. Vincent’s Health System patient portal. The results of the tests along with information about your past and upcoming visits are posted to the site as soon as they are available.

• If my doctor is busy or in surgery, can I see another physician?
Any of our physicians would be happy to see you and address your care or concerns. Our goals are for you to have a pleasant experience with us, and to make your waiting time as brief as possible.

• Do you accept Medicare?
While several physician practices are no longer accepting Medicare, we will continue to see Medicare patients. However, our physicians are not Medicaid providers.

• What forms should I complete prior to my appointment?
We have an online check-in process that allows you to complete all required information from home prior to your visit. You will receive either a text message or an email from our office with a link at least 1 day prior to your visit.

• How do I schedule surgery?
After you have met with your doctor and you have discussed surgical plans, our surgery scheduler will contact you to set up a surgery day and time that works for you.

• What types of insurance plans do you accept and how can I pay my bill?
We bill most insurance companies directly through our electronic medical records provider. We do ask that you be prepared to make the required copayment when you check-in for your visit. This is an insurance company requirement.

We do not have the authority to waive a copayment. It is your responsibility to call your insurance company and find out what your co-payment is. You may pay for this with cash, check, debit or credit card at the time of your visit. Some insurance plans may require that you get authorization from them before you visit us. Since this differs by plan, please check with your insurance company so you can receive complete benefits from your coverage.

If there is a balance on your account after your insurance carrier has paid their portion, you will receive a billing statement. At Page, Hudson & Taylor, we participate in many managed care plans and see patients with traditional insurance. See the detailed list of plans below for your reference.
