Traumatic injuries need care right away. At Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, you’re in the right place, with orthopedic trauma specialists available 24/7. Orthopedic surgeons in our ER m provide advanced surgical treatment for severe and traumatic injuries to the bones, joints and ligaments, including:

  • Complex and compound fractured bones
  • Dislocated shoulders, knees, hips, elbows and fingers
  • Muscle injuries
  • Torn ligaments

Your orthopedic surgeon starts by listening to quickly understand and evaluate your injury. Onsite imaging is used to help diagnose your injury. Then, we’ll work with you to create a personalized care plan.

If surgery is needed, we provide same-day emergency orthopedic surgery onsite. Your care team connects all the dots for your care — from imaging and surgery, to follow-up care, such as rehabilitation and visits with bone health specialists.

Helping you prevent future fractures

Your care doesn’t end when you leave the emergency room. If you or a loved one are at risk for fractures, we connect you with specialists who help prevent future fractures. A common type of fracture we treat is a fragility fracture. These are fractures that occur from a low-level trauma, such as a fall from standing height. A fragility fracture often means that you have an underlying bone condition, such as osteoporosis.

Your provider starts by listening to you, to better understand you and your health. Your specialist may recommend a series of tests, such as a DEXA scan and blood work, to better understand your bone health. Then, we’ll work with you to create a care plan that helps prevent future fragility fractures.
