Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is a procedure designed to reduce the size of the breasts. It is most often performed when enlarged breasts contribute to neck, shoulder, or back pain, and can also help if you develop rashes beneath the breasts.

Breast reduction can be performed through various methods. Which method will work best to achieve the result you seek is individualized based on your particular breast anatomy.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a procedure in which an implant, which can be either saline or silicone, is inserted underneath the breast to increase size. Breast augmentation alone does not typically change breast shape, but it can be combined with a breast lift in certain cases to achieve a more youthful look.

A wide variety of implant shapes and sizes are available to help you obtain the look you want.  Let us help you understand the surgery better.

Breast Lift

A breast lift is a surgery performed to reposition ptotic, or sagging, breasts into a more youthful position. A breast lift is often combined with implant placement to achieve a more full- appearing breast. The surgery itself is performed through a variety of techniques individualized to your personal breast shape and size desires.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is a process most often performed to restore a breast which has been removed due to cancer, but other reasons, such as a breast that formed improperly or did not form, may also necessitate a breast reconstruction. Using your own tissue, implants, or a combination of the two can be done. Since breast reconstruction is a process which can take weeks to months to complete, it is very important to understand the reconstruction techniques and be comfortable with your reconstructive surgeon.

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)

Abdominoplasty is a surgery designed to improve the shape and contours of the abdomen.  Excess lower abdominal tissue is removed, often combined with liposuction and tightening of the stomach muscles.  It is a common procedure for women who have had children, women and men who have lost weight, or those who are unhappy with their abdominal appearance for other reasons.

Contouring after massive weight loss

We coordinate with the Ascension St. John Bariatric program when a patient experiences sagging skin after massive weight loss. Body contouring procedures remove excess tissue to obtain a more normal shape. This includes not only abdominoplasty, but also lower body lifts, arm lifts, thigh lifts, breast lifts, and other procedures.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a means of removing focal areas of excess fat which affect your body shape. Liposuction is not a means of removing fat from broad areas or a weight loss technique. While it may seem or sound simple, liposuction can in fact yield poor results if not performed properly.

Face lift

Face lifts are performed to improve aging effects in the lower face and jowl or chin area. While more simple techniques like thread lifts may be touted, they are not as durable or reliable as more traditional surgical face lifts.

Brow lift

A brow lift is a procedure in which forehead soft tissue is re-elevated, moving the eyebrows up slightly and often smoothing forehead wrinkles. This procedure can be performed with longer open incisions or, with select patients, with a scope through smaller incisions. It is often performed in combination with a blepharoplasty or eyelid lift.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)

Blepharoplasty involves removing excess skin and fatty tissue from the upper or lower eyelids. It is frequently performed to improve a person’s visual field (especially upper and peripheral vision). It may result in a more youthful appearance as it creates a more open-appearing eye.

Neck lift

Neck lift is designed to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from beneath the chin and on the front of the neck. Often combined with a face lift, a neck lift allows you to obtain a more youthful contour of the chin and neck angles. It is most often performed through incisions behind the ear and under the chin.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty involves reshaping of the nose. This may involve restructuring cartilage, skin and fat removal, and bone reshaping. The nose is a complex structure with a delicate architecture; reshaping requires excellent preoperative planning and surgical skill, which may be performed through small incisions in the nose in some cases.

Otoplasty (ear pinning)

Otoplasty is used to place prominent ears into a more aesthetically pleasing position. It is most frequently performed through incisions behind the ears.

Fat injection

While cosmetic fillers are excellent at hiding or correcting the results of aging, many are not long term. Fat injection is performed for many reasons, including facial sculpting and correction of body contour abnormalities. Fat is harvested through liposuction, processed to obtain the high quality fat for transfer, and then injected into the planned sites. Fat injections use your own tissue and thus tend to be longer lasting than other alternatives.

Brachioplasty (arm lift)

Brachioplasty is the removal of excess or hanging skin in the upper arms. It frequently involves liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue, then excision of redundant skin. The incision is most often on the inside of the upper arm and in the armpit.

Thigh lift

Much like arm lifts, thigh lifts remove excess fatty tissue and skin from the thigh. Most techniques focus on removal of tissue from the inside of the thigh area. Thigh lift combines liposuction with excision to improve the shape of the thigh. Incisions are usually in the groin area and occasionally extend down the inside of the thigh.

Buttock lift

Buttock lift can be either through excision of skin above the buttock or by injection of your own fatty tissue into the buttock to improve shape and size. Fat for injection is harvested with liposuction, processed to obtain the best fat for transfer, and injected into the buttock to create a round, full shape.

Injectables

Cosmetic injectables are used to hide or correct the effects of aging. Products that improve wrinkles and folds or add volume are available for a variety of corrections and can often be used in combination for excellent results. A thorough and individualized consultation is essential to getting the best outcome.

Skin resurfacing

Chemical peels, lasers, and dermabrasion are used to resurface the skin. These procedures are designed to smooth out wrinkles in the skin and are best used for fine to moderate wrinkles. Your individual skin type plays a critical role in deciding which process is best for you.

Micropigmentation (cosmetic tattooing)

For women seeking breast nipples, our surgeons work with the breast surgeons when a nipple sparing procedure is done.  Micropigmentation is the process of embedding organic pigment beneath the skin to add permanent color to the area of choice. There are many beneficial uses of micropigmentation such as adding color to the breasts, in most cases this is referred to as areola micropigmentation. Other applications are to improve a patient’s appearance with a "wake up -- made up face" (eyelash line, lips, eyebrows) or to camouflage unwanted scars and discoloration.

In contrast to traditional ink tattooing, our care team utilizes the SofTap method of micropigmentation, a service performed by hand with the use of a natural iron oxide pigment that is oxidized by the skin and becomes permanent.

Areola micropigmentation is used if the patient has had any form of breast surgery which resulted in the areolas appearing disfigured, scarred, absent or colorless. This procedure helps to restore a more natural appearance and can be performed with or without a nipple reconstruction.
