The McCoy Wellness and Rehabilitation Center provides compassionate care for your rehabilitation needs. Your care team may include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, cardiac rehabilitation therapists, and pulmonary rehabilitation specialists.
Physical therapy
McCoy Wellness and Rehabilitation Center therapists listen to understand you and your health concerns. Then, we work with you to create a rehabilitation care plan that’s right for you. Our goal is to help you achieve your goals and regain the mobility and function that will improve your quality of life.
Conditions we treat include:
- Musculoskeletal injury or pain
- Post-surgical orthopedic care including knee, shoulder, ankle, hip and spine
- Radiculopathies
- Sports injuries
- Imbalance
- Difficulty walking
- General weakness
- Parkinson’s disease
- Many other musculoskeletal conditions
Occupational therapy
The therapy team at the McCoy Wellness and Rehabilitation Center work closely with a variety of specialists including orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons.

- Manual therapies such as joint and soft tissue mobilization, manipulation
- Custom orthosis fabrication for hands and upper extremities
- Therapeutic exercise and strengthening
- Range of motion and fine motor dexterity therapy
- Neuromuscular rehabilitation
- Functional activities of daily living retraining, joint protection, energy conservation, and ergonomics training
- Therapeutic taping
- Pre- and post-surgery rehabilitation
- Edema and lymphedema management
Speech therapy
Speech language pathologists treat a wide variety of conditions that impact communication and swallowing. Speech language pathologists at the McCoy Wellness and Rehabilitation Center treat patients recovering from a stroke or brain injury, those who currently have or previously had head and neck cancer, and those with neurological conditions, such as dementia, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), formerly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and muscular dystrophy.
Cardiac rehabilitation
Experienced care teams specialize in cardiac rehabilitation after a heart attack, diagnosis of heart failure, and heart surgery. Our nurses and exercise specialists work with you to help strengthen your heart and lungs and manage your symptoms and recovery. The rehabilitation program at Ascension Seton Hays is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Cardiac rehab may be recommended for patients who recently had heart surgery or who have been diagnosed with certain conditions such as:
- Bypass surgery
- Congestive heart failure
- Coronary stent or angioplasty
- Heart attack
- Heart transplant or heart pump
- Heart valve replacement or repair
- Treatment for angina
Pulmonary rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation specialists at The McCoy Wellness and Rehabilitation Center focus on building your lung endurance and reducing shortness of breath. With a referral from your doctor, our experienced respiratory therapists and nurses work with you to deliver a personalized exercise and education program that includes 1-1 counseling and smoking cessation, if needed.
