About Us

Ascension Borgess Athletic Performance Program in Kalamazoo providers personalized athletic training for teens and adults.

As part of Ascension Michigan Sports Medicine, the Ascension Borgess Athletic Performance Program in Kalamazoo offers athletes personalized training with certified strength coaches. 

Athletic Performance Training Packages: 

Athletes can reach the top of their game with Ascension Athletic Performance training packages. When you select a training package, you will work one-on-one with a strength coach at the Ascension Borgess Health and Fitness Center.

16 Session Elite Training Pack (Ages 12+)

This program is designed to help teens and adults increase their speed, strength and conditioning.

8 Session Fundamental Pack (Ages 8-12)

This program focuses on foundations of sport movement, running mechanics and injury prevention.

Return to Sport Injury Rehab Training 

A referral is required for this program. It is designed to help athletes who are recovering from an injury to get back to sports. The program is 8-10 weeks. 

Team and Group Training

In this package, our athletic trainers work with five or more athletes, helping them reach the top of their game as individuals and as a team. Based on your needs, our trainers can come to you. Call 269-552-2340 for more information.

Meet our care team

Jen Query - Program Manager, MA, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C)  

Jen is a former strength and conditioning coach for Western Michigan University with oversight for the women's basketball, hockey, softball, gymnastics and cross country teams.  She has also worked extensively with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins and AFL Rampage professional teams as a team trainer.

Fred Murphy - Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach (RSCC), USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.  

Fred is a former minor league strength and conditioning coach with the Detroit Tigers and has a proven track record of success training athletes of all ages in a variety of settings for over 10 years.
