Specialized cancer programs

We know that each type of cancer is different. That’s why we have programs dedicated to treating your type of cancer. Our programs include:

  • Advanced care for gastric cancer – the Jerome Williams Gastric Cancer Program, provides comprehensive care for gastrointestinal tumors and cancer that has spread to the peritoneal cavity.
  • Breast screening and breast cancer care – Doctors and care teams at Ascension Michigan deliver advanced digital mammograms so you get the best in breast care and breast cancer detection. Breast surgeons at the Liggett Breast Center provide comprehensive care for your breast disease. Ask about our high-risk breast clinic program.

Genetic testing and counseling

At Ascension Michigan Cancer Care sites of care, your doctor and genetic counselor listen to understand your concerns about your risk of developing cancer. Genetic blood tests can help identify genes, such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 for breast cancer and other hereditary cancers. Medical oncology treatments are provided in a comfortable infusion center. Chemotherapy and other treatments may involve oral, intravenous (IV) or topical medication therapy. These treatments may be combined with surgery or other treatments.

Radiation oncology offers advanced, targeted radiotherapy and radiosurgery to destroy cancer cells and tumors. Our radiation oncology delivery systems help track tumors and cancer cells. We offer a range of advanced treatments, including:

  • External beam radiation therapy (EBRT), including IMRT
  • High-dose-rate after loading (HDR) treatment program
  • High-dose brachytherapy

Surgeons specializing in breast surgery and reconstruction, gastric surgery, lung and chest surgery, and gynecologic cancer surgery deliver advanced surgical treatments. Minimally invasive techniques are used whenever possible. Image-guided and computer-assisted technology with high navigation helps your surgeon remove a tumor while preserving healthy tissue.

When you’re going through cancer care, we’re by your side. Your doctors and care team are here to help, listen and offer services that help support your treatment plan.
