Furthering our mission to help you, Ascension River District Hospital offers Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME)* classes. During these classes, you will learn about many different topics related to diabetes, including:
- What is diabetes
- Coping with diabetes
- Nutrition information (carbohydrate counting, label reading and eating out)
- Blood sugar monitoring
- Medications
- Management of high/low blood sugar
- Physical activity
- Foot care and prevention of complications
Available in individual and group sessions, these classes will help you develop healthy habits meant to improve blood sugar control and quality of life.
