About Us

Ascension Saint Agnes Maternal Fetal Medicine in Columbia, MD, delivers high-risk pregnancy care for mother and baby.

Perinatal (maternal-fetal medicine) services

Maternal-fetal medicine doctors at Ascension Saint Agnes Maternal Fetal Medicine deliver advanced diagnostic tests and care during high-risk pregnancy, labor and delivery. We listen to understand your concerns and educate you about the preparations we are making for the birth of your child. As part of our Perinatal Care Program, our doctors specialize in the diagnosis of congenital fetal health conditions. Our OB, MFM and NICU care teams work together during labor and delivery to deliver advanced specialty care for you and your baby.

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, go directly to the ER or dial 9-1-1.

Specializing in maternal-fetal care

A referral from your OB-GYN is needed for maternal-fetal medicine specialty care. Our MFM doctors offer fetal diagnostic testing and evaluations, prenatal screenings and ultrasound sonography to monitor the growth and development of your baby. Other services include but are not limited to:

  • Co-management of chronic hypertension and autoimmune disease
  • Co-management of gestational diabetes
  • Co-management of high order gestations (twins, triplets)
  • Genetic testing and counseling
  • High-risk pregnancy care

Your health during pregnancy affects your baby’s health too. Congenital fetal health conditions may be detected during prenatal checkups. If a condition is detected, we can connect you with the specialists who are right for you and your baby.

Your care team delivers personalized care for the needs of you and your baby - from managing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, gestational diabetes or heart disease to monitoring the development of your baby’s heart, brain, lungs and other organs. Our neonatologists and pediatric specialists are available during pregnancy for perinatal consultations. To learn more about high-risk pregnancy care, contact your OB-GYN.
