Partial day treatment program: five days a week

In Wichita, Kansas, Ascension Via Christi’s partial day program is our most intensive form of outpatient therapy and psychoeducation for treating and managing a mental illness. It allows the patients to still live at home, putting their learnings into practice each day.

  • Patients attend five days a week, six hours a day, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Adolescent program (12-17), with school liaison available
  • Adult program (18 and older), with FMLA paperwork completed

Intensive outpatient program: three days a week

Ascension Via Christi’s intensive outpatient program is a less-intensive option, providing the same type of services as the partial-day program

  • Patients attend three days a week, six hours a day, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Includes adolescent and adult programs

Patients may benefit from either outpatient program if they have:

  • A primary psychiatric diagnosis other than substance use disorder; for example, thoughts about self-harm, depression, anxiety
  • Ability to benefit from educational offerings
  • Successful engagement helps reduce inpatient stays away from family and others
  • Evening and weekend support
  • Access to transportation

Patients who enroll in these intensive, short-term programs must be:

  • Willing to participate
  • Expecting progress within a specified time period
  • Able to function safely without 24-hour medical and psychiatric care
  • Not a threat to self or others, and able to commit to a safety plan

Both programs offer medication management and group therapy with a focus on the development of healthy life skills.
