Personalized breastfeeding support
Deciding to breastfeed is a personal choice you can make for you and your baby. Breast milk is full of nutrients to help your baby grow and develop. It also has antibodies that help your baby stay healthy by fighting off illness. We understand that breastfeeding may not not come naturally for all moms and babies. Our lactation nurses help you with latching difficulties, soreness, how to use a breast pump, storing breast milk, and more. Our lactation consultant is here to answer your questions and provide breastfeeding support and education, including:
- Breastfeeding classes before your baby is born
- Lactation consultant visits during your hospital stay
- One-on-one support
- Breastfeeding support after you leave the hospital
The Breastfeeding Clinic at Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph is located on the first floor. Our lactation consultants are registered nurses who are board-certified in lactation consulting. They’re available to help you and your baby have a successful breastfeeding experience. Clinic visits are available by appointment. We offer your first appointment as a telehealth visit. If needed, we provide in-person follow-up appointments.
Remodeling and new equipment at The Breastfeeding Clinic was funded by Children's Miracle Network at Ascension Via Christi Hospitals. Services now include breastfeeding classes for new moms, at no cost.
