Testing for signs of hearing loss

If you think you or your child may have a hearing problem, we deliver personalized hearing tests to diagnose hearing conditions. Our certified audiologists at Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent - Kokomo Audiology deliver personalized care for children and adults — from newborn hearing screening tests to diagnostic hearing evaluations for adults. We listen to understand your concerns. Then, we deliver the care that is right for you.

Our audiologists specialize in progressive and permanent hearing loss due to age or illness. As part of your care plan, we can help you find a hearing device that fits your lifestyle.

Hearing services

At Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent - Kokomo Audiology, we offer a variety of audiology services, including tests to identify and diagnose hearing loss. We educate you and your family about how to prevent noise-induced hearing loss. The type of test given depends on age and other factors.

  • Adult hearing screening tests
  • Otoacoustic emission test
  • Pure-tone testing

Pediatric audiology tests

If your newborn does not pass their hearing test at the hospital, your doctor may refer you to our care team for additional hearing tests. We deliver the recommended 1-3-6 month approach for follow-up testing and care. Other pediatric audiology tests include:

  • Behavioral audiometry – a subjective behavioral test that detects the softest level at which a child can hear across different frequencies and speech
  • Otoacoustic emissions testing –an objective test that measures sound within the hearing organ, called the cochlea
  • Tympanometry – an objective test that evaluates the middle ear

Hearing aid devices and assistive listening technology

We work with your doctor to recommend a hearing treatment plan. Listening with hearing aids or cochlear implants takes practice. We help you adapt to your device and fit the device during adjustment appointments. We also offer information about how assistive listening devices, such as telephone amplifiers, microphones and TV listening devices may help improve your quality of life.

Hearing aid options include:

  • Bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHA)
  • Cochlear implants
  • Traditional digital hearing aids with Bluetooth
  • Our digital hearing aid program options include cleaning, battery replacement and repair
