In Central/Indiana, Ascension St. Vincent Castleton Emergency Department delivers 24/7 emergency care for serious and life-threatening injuries and illnesses. We listen to quickly understand your health needs. Then, we provide care that’s right for you. Board-certified emergency care doctors and care teams at Ascension are trained in advanced life-saving services. From the moment you walk through the door, we deliver compassionate care to help you and your loved ones through an emergency.

When you get care at our ER, a care concierge will work closely with your ER care team to make sure a personalized follow-up plan is in place before you leave the ER. As the only ER care concierge in Indiana, we can even schedule appointments with a specialist at a time and location that works for you.

We’re here for you when you need us most

We’re here for you every day. If you or a loved one is experiencing a cardiovascular emergency, our ER doctors and care teams work closely with the Ascension St. Vincent heart and stroke care network. Together, our first responders, ER care team and our hospital’s medical-surgical intensive care teams provide advanced care. For critical trauma injuries, our ER care team works closely with the Ascension Indiana Trauma Center and critical care air-ground transport teams in your area.

Reasons to seek emergency care at Ascension

Ascension ER care teams offer treatment for signs or symptoms of a major health emergencies, including:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Open fractures
  • Fainting
  • Severe bleeding
  • Head injury or other major trauma
  • One-sided weakness or numbness, or seizure
  • Severe stomach pain
  • Bites or stings
  • Suspected drug overdose -shallow breathing, unresponsiveness, slow heart rate

Rural and Urban Access to Health (RUAH)

Rural and Urban Access to Health (RUAH) is a community-based care coordination program sponsored by Ascension Medical Group – St. Vincent. Inspired by the work of St. Vincent de Paul, the purpose of RUAH is to connect our friends, family and neighbors to a combined network of health, human and social services resulting in improved access to care and removal of barriers to needed resources.
