Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a treatment that delivers 100% oxygen to the patient in a pressurized environment. This treatment quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen into the bloodstream and increases oxygenation to damaged tissues. HBOT is effective in fighting certain types of infections and stimulating the growth of new blood vessels to improve circulation and promote wound healing.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be helpful in treating the following conditions:
- Wagner Grade 3 diabetic foot ulcers
- Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
- Acutely compromised skin grafts and flaps
- Delayed radiation injury to the soft tissues and/or mandible
- Radiation induced cystitis and proctitis
- Acute arterial insufficiency
- Sudden sensorineural hearing loss
