At the Center for Addiction Medicine located in the Ascension Illinois - Foglia Family Foundation Residential Treatment Center, our care team for substance use includes psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, registered dietitians, and social workers. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of many addiction disorders, including alcohol use disorders and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. You do not need a doctor’s referral to meet with a mental health or substance use specialist at the Center for Addiction Medicine. Our team is here to help. 

Our Clinical Access Department at Ascension Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital is open 24/7. We take walk-ins and can do a mental health and substance use assessment. Your care team will provide follow-up appointments with a mental health professional.

Penn Alcohol Craving Scale (PACS)

Outcomes scores (Jan 1, 2024 - Dec 31, 2024)

The Penn Alcohol Craving Scale (PACS) is a comprehensive questionnaire used for patient's struggling with alcohol use disorder. This scale is measured weekly to identify individual's intensity in cravings to drink alcohol.

For an estimated 24 day length of stay, there was a 54% decrease in craving intensity.


Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9)The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) is an instrument to screen for the presence and severity of depressive symptoms. 

In an estimated length of stay of 24 days, patients reported a 59% decrease in depressive symptomatology.
