Breast Cancer Support Group

Strength in Sharing
At Sacred Heart, our mission calls us to provide compassionate care for body, mind and spirit. Our Breast Cancer Support Group is an expression of this mission, offering cancer patients and survivors an opportunity to gain strength in sharing.

In addition to the care and support of our medical staff, cancer patients can also find knowledge and comfort from attending and participating in a cancer support group. Connecting with others through a support group offers cancer patients an affordable way to ask questions as well as share meaningful stories of the challenges and struggles encountered along their journey. Moreover, patients who attend support groups tend to live longer than those cancer patients who do not.

Mission
The mission of the Breast Cancer Support Group is to empower breast cancer patients and survivors through education, spirituality, support and humor.

Cancer Affects More Than Just the Patient
Cancer does not affect just one person -- it affects entire families. Benefits of joining a cancer support group include an increased self-esteem, enhanced sense of community, and the joy of giving and receiving encouragement and hope. Attending a support group can provide help to newly-diagnosed patients who struggle with the issue of how to speak to loved ones about their cancer. Tips on creating an atmosphere for open dialogue are available at every support group meeting.

What Cancer Cannot Do by John Cave
Cancer is limited...

  • It cannot cripple love;
  • It cannot shatter hope;
  • It cannot erode faith;
  • It cannot eat away peace;
  • It cannot destroy confidence;
  • It cannot kill friendship;
  • It cannot shut out memories;
  • It cannot silence courage;
  • It cannot invade the soul;
  • It cannot reduce eternal life;
  • It cannot quench the spirit;
  • It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection.
