Visiting hours and guidelines
- Visiting hours are 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day
- Visitors may not enter the facility if they:
- Are currently experiencing respiratory symptoms (including fever, cough and sore throat)
- Had a positive COVID-19 test in the last 10 days
- Have had close contact with someone positive for COVID-19 in the last 5 days
- All visitors must wear a medical-grade mask that fully covers mouth and nose throughout their visit. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you.
- Visitors younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and are strongly discouraged from visiting intensive care units and high-risk areas.
Additional restrictions may apply
Please note that procedural and specialty units may have stricter guidelines for masks, gowns and gloves, as well as limits on visiting hours and number of visitors at a time. Please follow all guidelines and discuss any special accommodations with the patient’s care team.
Parking information
Patients and visitors to Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee may park in any of our 15 parking lots or on the surrounding streets. Parking lots reserved specifically for patients and visitors are as follows:
- ER ramp (lot 15) : Please use the ER ramp for visits to the Emergency Room and maternity unit
- Main entrance (lot 4) : This lot is available 24/7 for patients and visitors
- Main entrance and Sisters' Residence (lot 5) : This lot is available 24/7 for patients, visitors, sisters and their guests
- Wound Healing and Infusion Center (lot 3): This lot is available for patients and visitors of the Wound Healing and Infusion Center Monday through Friday
Food and drink
Skylight Gardens Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located on the lower level of the east pavilion at Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee and is open to the public.

- Grab & Go: 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Gathering Grounds Coffee and Gift Shop
Located on the first floor of the hospital, near the main lobby. Gathering Grounds Coffee and Gift Shop is open to the public. Serves coffee, smoothies, soup, sandwiches and baked goods.
Monday–Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Vending machines
The vending area is located on the lower level of the hospital across from the Skylight Gardens Cafeteria. Snacks and drinks can be purchased.
Room service
Whether you need a full meal, sandwich, beverage or snack, call extension 2300 to have an order delivered to your bedside. Room service operators and dietitians work closely with patients to modify foods and diet plans to meet individual needs.
Patients will receive the chef's selection at meal times. If you would like to change your order, call extension 2300 at least one hour prior to your meal.
Gift shop
The Gathering Grounds Coffee and Gift Shop is located on the first floor of the hospital, by the circle lobby. Whether you are looking for flowers, balloons, baby gifts or toys, delivery service to rooms is no charge to you.

Our chapel is located on the first floor, near the hospital's main entrance. Patients and visitors of all faiths are welcomed for prayer and meditation.
