Volunteer requirements
With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make Ascension Saint Joseph - Joliet in Illinois feel like home. Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension volunteers must meet. We accept adults age 18 and up. First you will need to complete a volunteer application and attend an interview and orientation session. Next you will undergo a health screening for measles, mumps and rubella, two-step TB test to confirm negative tuberculosis status, and annual flu vaccination-at no charge, and a health clearance form completed by your doctor. Volunteers are also required to submit two letters of recommendation. Then you will complete onsite training in assigned department upon beginning your assignment, (mandatory training sessions will also be scheduled annually for all volunteers.) Uniforms and ID badge are required any time you are volunteering. To maintain active status, volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of three to four hours of service each week for a minimum of six months. These requirements ensure that volunteers are well-prepared and dedicated to supporting the mission of Ascension Saint Joseph - Joliet. Please review the "Immunization" requirements and "General" requirements for the location you are applying for, before submitting your application. If you are interested in volunteering, please submit a volunteer application to start the process.
