Volunteer requirements
With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make Ascension Saint Francis feel like home. Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension volunteers must meet. You must be 18 years of age at time of application. First you will need to contact the volunteer service office and complete a volunteer application, attend a volunteer orientation and interview session. Next you will complete a TB test, proof of COVID - 19 vaccination, proof of MMR and varicella (chickenpox) immunity or vaccination, and a flu shot. Then you will submit a criminal background check, and complete orientation paperwork. Next you will attend onsite training in a assigned department upon beginning your assignment (mandatory training sessions will also be scheduled annually for all volunteers.) To maintain active status, volunteers must provide a minimum of four hours of service each week for at least a six-month period (approximately 75 hours). Uniforms are required any time you are volunteering. These requirements ensure that volunteers are well-prepared and dedicated to supporting the mission of Ascension Saint Francis.
