Ascension Saint Joseph is proud of the service the volunteer community provides for our healthcare ministry. Volunteers are vital in helping to create a warm and friendly environment, and are  present in many departments throughout our hospital.

Ascension Saint Joseph volunteers donate their time and energy in an effort to make a patient's stay as comfortable as possible. Our volunteers perform duties that lighten the load of our staff, services for patient comfort. Thank you for your interest in volunteering. There isn’t a gift more generous, more compassionate or more appreciated than giving your time.

Volunteer requirements

With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make Ascension Saint Joseph in Illinois feel like home. Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension volunteers must meet. We accept adults age 18 and up. Teenagers must be at least 16 years old with a completed parental consent form. First you will need to complete a volunteer application and attend an interview session. Next you will undergo a health screening for measles, mumps and rubella. Volunteers are also required to complete a criminal background check and orientation paperwork. Uniforms are required any time you are volunteering. These requirements ensure that volunteers are well-prepared and dedicated to supporting the mission of Ascension Saint Joseph. Please review the "Immunization" requirements and "General" requirements for the location you are applying for, before submitting your application.
