Volunteer requirements
With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make Ascension Saint Elizabeth feel like home. Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension volunteers must meet. Must be minimum age of 18 years old at time of application. First you will attend a volunteer orientation. The next step will be to complete orientation paperwork and submit information for a criminal background check. Then you will complete a two-step TB test, a health screening for MMR, and a flu shot. Volunteers are also required to undergo annual TB testing and complete ongoing education initiatives. Uniforms are required any time you are volunteering. To maintain active status, volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 100 hours of service annually. These requirements ensure that volunteers are well-prepared and dedicated to supporting the mission of Ascension Saint Elizabeth. Please review the "Immunization" requirements and "General" requirements for the location you are applying for, before submitting your application. If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail our program manager Clarence Howard or call 312-770-2391 to get started.
