If you need a biopsy, your doctor may use robotic navigational bronchoscopy and/or an EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound) to get more accurate results. Advanced diagnostic testing helps doctors, nurses and therapists to identify your breathing problems. Then, your pulmonary care team works together to create a plan that’s right for you. Neuromuscular disorders

Neuromuscular disorders affect the nerves that control muscle movement and other voluntary body functions. If you have this condition, you are at a higher risk for developing respiratory problems. At Ascension Seton, Dr. Michael Shapiro and Dr. Christopher Garrison run a clinic devoted to helping you manage your breathing in conjunction with a neuromuscular disorder.

Pulmonary hypertension

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a condition where high blood pressure affects the blood vessels in your lungs. PAH can lead to heart failure and other debilitating medical conditions. Your doctor and pulmonary care team can help you to manage this condition safely and effectively.

Sleep medicine

Sleep specialists treat many types of sleep disorders from snoring to insomnia. Loud snoring can be a sign of a dangerous condition called obstructive sleep apnea. During your sleep cycle, you may suddenly stop breathing for short periods of time. Our doctors monitor your condition and deliver personalized care for your specific sleeping and breathing needs. For sleep medicine studies, we also offer sleep lab testing and home-based sleep tests.
