2023-2024 Virtual Newborn Care Class - Ascension St Vincent

Welcome to our Virtual Newborn Care Class offered by Ascension St Vincent Women's Hospital

In this class you will learn normal newborn characteristics and activity, adjustments to parenthood, baby-proofing your home, safety issues and baby care basics (bathing, diapering and feeding) through demonstration and practice. Adoptive parents and grandparents are welcome to register for the class.

The following list are items we recommend you have ready to use during the interactive portion of this class . There will be several opportunities to practice skills and learn from the interactive hand-on involvement of you and your care partner.

  • Pretend Baby: This can be a baby doll, stuffed animal or even a roll of paper towels.

  • 2 Diapers : if you do not have these at home you can use a wash cloth or paper towels as a pretend diaper.

  • Wash Cloth

  • Towel

  • Blanket

Optional Items to have available include: bulb syringe, clothing for pretend baby, and thermometer

Registration includes both mom and care partner. Class registration is non-refundable, however, we would be happy to move you to another class with 72 hours notice.

Once registered, you will receive an email link inviting you to attend this class through google meets. You will be able to view the class using your laptop, tablet, desktop or smartphone. If you choose to use a smartphone or tablet, you will be prompted to download the Google Meets app, which is a free download. There will be opportunities throughout the class to ask questions.
