Ascension Seton A Child Development class designed to help you understand and prepare for your baby's first year

Breastfeeding Success is pleased to announce that Child Development:The First Twelve Months will be offered as a virtual live class during the times and dates listed below. We believe that during this time of social distancing it is imperative that parents are able to establish and maintain community support. Participants will be contacted with a Google Meet link prior to class.

The fee is $40 per family. Breastfeeding Success offers financial assistance if your insurance carrier does not cover the cost of the class and you have documented need. Please call 512-808-0237 with any questions or for help with scheduling. We look forward to seeing you in class!

Child Development: The First 12 Months

Taught by Ellie Wheeler

This class aims to help you understand how your child is growing, developing and learning during the first year of life so that you can make informed parenting decisions and choose parenting strategies that are right for you and your baby.

Topics will include:

  • Stages of cognitive and emotional development

  • Developmental milestones and understanding them

  • Sleep development: stages and issues

  • The role of attachment including soothing and self soothing

About the instructor

Ellie is from the United Kingdom. She got her Masters degree in Psychology and Mathematics from the University of St Andrews in 2002 and went on to gain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Glasgow in 2009. Before completing her doctorate she worked as a nanny for a number of years, specializing in working with children with special needs. After graduating she worked as a psychologist in the UK, working with young people suffering from eating disorders and their families.
