This comprehensive instructor-led course is critical for enhancing and validating nurses and physicians’ ability to interpret and respond to fetal heart monitoring tracings. The course is designed for registered nurses and physicians who have completed a basic or foundations fetal monitoring course and who have used fetal heart monitoring technology in the perinatal setting for at least 6 months. Clinicians whose only experience is antepartum patient care, antepartum fetal heart assessment or limited intrapartum care may need additional didactic and/or clinical experience to gain the required knowledge. The course includes didactic content, hands-on skill station modules, and testing of the following skills:

  • Maternal and fetal physiology
  • Interpretation of fetal and uterine monitor tracings
  • Evaluation of auscultated fetal heart sounds
  • Leopold’s maneuvers
  • Placement of fetal spiral electrode and intrauterine pressure catheters
  • Evaluation of and strategies for enhancing communication

Pre-course work: Participants will need to purchase the Student Materials before the class. The intermediate Course-Student Material is $135.00 and ordering information is below. You will need to have the Course ID that is listed on the date of the class below to order your materials. ** Each Participant will need to complete the virtual coursework 24 hours prior to the start of the class in order to be eligible to participate in the in-person portion of the class. The website for the virtual coursework and information on how to access it can be found on the inside cover of the physical student workbook.

If your class required payment, a refund will be given if a cancellation request is received 2 business days (48 hours) prior to the start of the class/program. A full refund will be given for any class cancelled by the site.
