Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown Just About the Baby

Just about the Baby is a single session covering what to expect with your newborn and how to provide the best care in the first few weeks. Instructors: Geri Scott BSN, RN, CCE and Dawn Senner BSN, RN, CCE, CLC

Would you like to know what's new regarding newborn care? This class is very interactive and designed for expectant parents, grandparents, adopting parents, nannies, or anyone else needing a refresher on newborn care. This class will discuss challenges you may face the first few weeks at home with the new baby. Some topics that are covered include safe sleep, new guidelines for feedings-breast and bottle, comforting crying baby, and general infant care. When you meet for your class, the nurse will be able to answer your questions and demonstrate some basic newborn care skills in which you will follow along to practice with a baby doll or stuffed animal. The types of hands-on skills you will practice will include diapering, feeding, bathing and swaddling. (If you register for an in-person class, we will provide the baby doll and supplies for you to borrow during your class).

Please feel free to contact us by email or phone with any questions. Monday-Friday from 9 am until Noon at 615-284-2229
