Elizabeth C. Tyler-Kabara, MD, PhD, is a pediatric neurosurgeon with Dell Children's in Austin, Texas. Dr. Tyler-Kabara is an associate professor and associate chair of research with UT Health Austin who practices at Dell Children's Medical School at The University of Texas in Austin, Department of Neurosurgery. She is the chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery and the co-chief of Pediatric Neuroscience in the Pediatric Neurosurgery Center with UT Health Austin who practices at Dell Children's.
Dr. Tyler-Kabara is a physician-researcher and has been the principal investigator and participant on many neuroscience clinical studies. She was the co-principal investigator on the grant that initiated the brain-computer interface human trials at the University of Pittsburgh. Her current research focuses on the use of brain computer interfaces to restore function and employ microelectrodes with recording and stimulation techniques within the brain-computer interface to control of neural prosthetics. These studies are conducted in collaboration with the Rehab Neural Engineering Laboratory, combining expertise in engineering, neuroscience, and rehabilitation medicine. The work of this research team has been featured on CBS-TV’s 60 Minutes, and she has given more than 50 lectures nationally and internationally on the subject. Dr. Tyler-Kabara has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, 15 published book chapters, and 80 published abstracts.
