When an emergency struck in the middle of the night, patient was grateful for the care she received at two Ascension Sacred Heart facilities.

After experiencing constant abdominal pain for four hours during the middle of the night, Lillian C. went to Ascension Sacred Heart ER in Navarre where she was cared for by staff who she described as kind, concerned and caring.

When a CT scan revealed a small bowel obstruction that required a higher level of care, ER physician Dr. Laura Garcia seamlessly transferred Lillian to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola.

Her arrival at Pensacola was just as smooth, she said. She was taken directly to a room that had been assigned to her while she was still in Navarre.

While every single one of the staff she encountered were great, some people do stand out: "The surgeon [ Dr. David Tenniswood ] not only took time to explain his diagnosis and recommendation for treatment, but his reasons behind how it related to my own personal health at the time. This was truly appreciated. I was impressed with the reasons for his decision and the way he explained it.

"The nursing staff I encountered were stellar. While they were all efficient and pleasant, I was so fortunate to have Wendy as my nurse on two of her weekend shifts. I commend her efficiency and professionalism coupled with her sense of humor and down-to-earth attitude. No one wants to stay in the hospital, but Wendy was the difference in making this a pleasant experience for me."

Fortunately for Lillian, her small bowel obstruction resolved without the need for surgery. Her experience assured her that she and her family members can receive care at the right place at the right time any time they need it.
