New Ascension St. Vincent's St. Johns County asset to the community

As an Ascension St. Vincent’s manager who oversaw the opening of the first urgent care in Jacksonville, Shannon Test sets the bar high for patient care.

When Test started experiencing left-sided pain that wasn’t going away, she drove 15 minutes to the new Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County that had opened its doors to the community a week prior.

“I know the first week after opening a new facility you are still working through the system, but my experience from when I checked in until I checked out exceeded my expectations,” she said. “Walking through the doors, it was comforting to see familiar faces.”

Test said she can become anxious with health concerns which can make it difficult to explain her symptoms. “I thought I was overreacting and maybe I had just pulled a muscle,” she explained. “Everyone was so attentive and listened to my concerns, which put me at ease.”

Her ER doctor, Dr. William Dietrich, assured her she wasn’t overreacting. The pain she was experiencing was caused by a kidney stone.

“It was comforting to have a health system that I trust right around the corner from where I and my family live,” she said.

Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County provides emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, heart care, orthopedics and musculoskeletal care, general surgery, lab services and imaging. The medical office building adjacent to the hospital provides specialty care, including cardiology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology and pulmonology.
