Then Allie faces her own health challenge, Bell's palsy.
“In an ideal world, I would have had the babies, stayed a couple of days and gone home. I never anticipated that one of them might end up in the NICU, and that we would be splitting time between the hospital and home. Sean my second born was born 4 pounds, 10 ounces, a whole pound lighter than his older brother. He was immediately taken to the NICU. Sean ended up staying there for 18 days. My saving grace every single day was just knowing he was in such good hands. Just having that phone call, “Hey your boy has gained this amount of grams over the night. He’s still eating and he’s still healthy.” That was everything. When he was in the NICU, I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. One half of my face just stopped working. My eye couldn’t close. I couldn’t smile. The day he got out of the NICU I got my smile back. It was so important because we finally could take our family home together. It’s a good feeling.”
