A multispecialty approach to care

Your pelvic floor is composed of a group of muscles in the pelvis that play a critical role in controlling your bladder and acting as supportive muscles that connect to your lower back and abdominal muscles. Weakened or uncoordinated pelvic floor muscles may not provide enough support for the bladder and can cause pelvic organ prolapse (bulging of the vagina), urinary incontinence (issues with bladder control), and fecal incontinence (issues with bowel control).

At Ascension Providence, you are cared for by a dedicated multidisciplinary care team, so you will benefit from the expertise of multiple specialists across a variety of disciplines. Our pelvic floor physical therapists have extensive experience treating pelvic floor disorders and work alongside a women’s health care team, including obstetrician-gynecologists (OB-GYNs), nurses, advanced practice providers, dietitians, social workers, and more.
