When you join the team of Ascension Providence Volunteers, you’re not just joining a group - you’re becoming part of our Ascension Providence family! Our volunteers are a diverse group of dedicated people with a heart to serve others.
When you walk through the front doors of Ascension Providence, a volunteer is likely the first person you’ll see. Teachers, grandparents, former nurses, college students, retirees and more - our volunteers come from different backgrounds, but they are united by their compassionate spirits and dedication to our mission of service. Each person carries a unique set of life skills and experiences that bring warmth and kindness to our families, patients, and visitors.

Volunteer Expectations & Requirements
Volunteers serve inside the hospital and some outpatient clinics. They provide non-clinical support to our staff, freeing up our staff to spend more time with our patients. Volunteering is a great way to make new friends - and make a difference!
Volunteers commit to a 4 hour shift each week. Some evening and weekend shifts are available. Due to the time and effort we put into screening, onboarding, and training new volunteers, we require a minimum 6 month commitment.
Due to the nature of our work, there are a number of requirements that all Ascension Providence volunteers must meet.
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Complete Volunteer Application
- Consent to Criminal Background Check (Social Security Number required)
- Complete TB (Tuberculosis) Questionnaire annually
- Flu Shot annually
- Commit to 4 hours of service each week for 6 months
- Complete Online Orientation and training
- Able to function independently with minimal supervision
Membership Benefits
While on duty, volunteers enjoy free coffee and tea, plus a 15% discount in the Cafeteria and ToGo’s. We host spring and fall luncheons plus a wonderful Christmas brunch. Volunteers also enjoy our St. Vincent’s Feast Day meal in the fall and Christmas meal for all associates and volunteers in December. Volunteers receive free flu shots each year and have access to exercise equipment and classes through our Cardiac Rehab Department at a reduced rate of $15 per month.
