Whether you are an athlete training for an event or have a medical condition that makes movement more challenging, you will find what you need to meet your fitness goals at the Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West Wellness Center. This unique, medically-based fitness facility is conveniently located on the hospital campus minutes from downtown and the Nashville suburbs.
Our nationally-certified staff of clinical exercise physiologists can design a program to help you lose weight, gain muscle, improve your cardiovascular fitness, prevent injury and achieve a healthy lifestyle. Our experienced certified personal trainers can work with you one-on-one, if you need more guidance, to help you achieve optimal health.

Well-equipped fitness facility
Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West Wellness Center medically based fitness facility that offers 15,000 square feet of exercise space with an array of equipment to build both aerobic endurance as well as muscular strength. Our employee associates and patients, as well as the residential and corporate community have access to:
- Cybex weight machines
- Elliptical trainers
- Free weights
- Indoor track with slip resistant surface
- Locker room with showers and towels
- Nustep recumbent steppers
- Stair climbers
- Stationary recumbent bicycles, upright bicycles, spin bicycles
- Two group fitness studios, one with “suspended” wood floor
Wellness Center is open for membership:
Ascension Saint Thomas community members who are 16 years of age or older and hospital employees can access the wellness center with monthly memberships as low as $20 per month.

Wellness Center Staff
Carrie Snyder, Wellness Center Coordinator
Carrie, a native of Jamestown, NY, earned a degree in math and science with a concentration in business administration from New York Community College. Her business experience includes launching a successful home improvement company. She now combines her passion for fitness and business administration in her position at the Wellness Center.
Lisa Cavato, Exercise Physiologist
Lisa earned her BS in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Exercise Physiologist certification from American College of Sports Medicine. She is a certified Yoga and Barre instructor, Level 1 MELT instructor, and Hypopressive (Low Pressure Fitness) trainer. Lisa’s passion for fitness has led her to further her education and develop techniques to help her clients develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle by creating a training environment that not only motivates, but also empowers individuals to challenge themselves in a fun and rewarding way.
Missy Harpole, Lead Exercise Physiologist
Missy has 33 years in the wellness industry in both Kentucky and Tennessee, working for 20 years in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, 12 years in cancer wellness and 10 years in the bariatric wellness program. She is also experienced in working with post-physical therapy patients as well as developing fitness programs for children and teens. She also specializes in working with older adults who may have health challenges. She earned a BS in Exercise Science from Murray State University and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Physiologist and as a Personal Trainer. She also has earned BLS CPR Healthcare Provider.
Karen Dyer, Exercise Physiologist
Karen has 35 years in the fitness industry and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Cancer Fitness Trainer. She has an MS in Exercise Physiology and BS in Mass Communications. She designed and served as coordinator of the RESTORE Stem Cell Transplant Rehabilitation Program and the Cancer Wellness Programs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and served as Fitness Director of GirlForce, an international wellness program for adolescent girls. She’s been a presenter at national AAHPERD and ECA conferences on the topics of youth exercise programs and aquatic exercise and was a nominee for the American Council on Exercise Instructor of the Year Award.
