Non-Invasive Radiation Treatment of Saginaw
Painless, non-invasive radiation treatment for tumors once thought inoperable.
Michigan CyberKnife Cancer Care
Tumors that were once considered inoperable are often treatable with CyberKnife.
CyberKnife radiosurgery is a painless, non-invasive radiation treatment that can be used as an alternative to open surgery in certain cases. It uses image-guided robotics to destroy tumors and other lesions with multiple beams of high-energy radiation. The cumulative effect of all the beams at the target results in the lesion receiving a very high dose of radiation while nearby normal tissue is preserved.
This treatment gives physicians the opportunity to help patients who couldn't be helped before, especially those with cancerous or non-cancerous tumors in the brain, lung, neck, spine, liver, and prostate. Consult with your Ascension doctor to see if this treatment is right for you or your loved one. CyberKnife at Ascension is only the second such system in the state of Michigan and is the only one north of Ann Arbor.
The following are some of the conditions that Cyberknife can treat:
- Acoustic neuroma
- Arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
- Brain metastases
- Glioblastoma multiforme
- Lung cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Pituitary adenoma
- Prostate cancer
- Spinal tumors
- Trigeminal neuralgia
