Breast Cancer Specialists Utilize Advanced Imaging Tools
Providence is one of the first hospitals in Mobile to routinely use computer-assisted diagnostic technology (called ImageChecker) for all screening mammograms. Breast X-rays are converted to digital images and electronically scanned to detect and highlight areas of abnormality for further medical review. Medical studies show that this type of breast imaging analysis can result improve early detection of breast cancers.
Our highly experienced cancer doctors thoughtfully consider and carefully plan an individual treatment plan for each patient. At Providence, we have many treatment options, including surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology.
Genetic Risk Assessment
Our Breast Care Center also offers genetic risk assessment by the area’s only nurse practitioner who is certified for Advanced Genetics Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Genetic risk assessment determines your risk of developing breast cancer based on your genetic makeup. The assessment is a key part of detection, diagnosis and treatment. To learn more about your risk for developing breast cancer, call 251-266-2852.
