Our Understanding Birth eClass is o pen to all families regardless of birth hospital.

This interactive program uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, and games to teach you all of the essential information you need to help you prepare for birth.

Topics include:

  • Pregnancy – body changes, discomforts, warning signs, nutrition and exercise
  • Labor – birth preparation, pre-labor signs, onset of labor and 3D animation of labor process
  • Stages of Labor – real-life birth stories
  • Comfort Techniques – breathing, relaxation, labor and pushing positions and advice for partners
  • Medical Procedures - induction and augmentation, fetal monitoring, medical pain relief, and assistance for 2nd stage
  • Cesarean Birth - reasons for surgical delivery, risks/benefits, the procedure and recovery
  • Newborns - newborn procedures, appearance, a newborn's world, SIDS prevention, choosing a Healthcare provider for baby
  • Postpartum - physical and emotional changes, breastfeeding basics and more

Your online childbirth class registration includes:

  • Online access for 9 months
  • Personalized support with a Childbirth Instructor
  • Private 2 hour session in person with instructor depends on current hospital COVID policies. (available only at Columbia St. Mary's - Milwaukee or Ozaukee; Elmbrook Hospital Campus; St. Joseph Hospital Campus; or St. Francis Hospital Campus)

Once your registration has been submitted, the online class code will be sent in your confirmation email.
