Community Baseline Project - Pre-Concussion Testing - Appleton

Community Baseline Project offers a Baseline concussion test for athletes. These tests are done before injury to establish a baseline score.

Head injuries are on the rise for athletes at all levels of play. It is estimated that more than 25% of athletes will suffer a concussion during his or her high school career. Moreover, if the athlete has a history of concussion they are almost 5 times more likely to suffer an additional concussion during high school.

Ascension Medical Group physicians and licensed athletic trainers are concerned about the current treatment options available to club, middle school and local athletic programs. As a result, Ascension Medical Group has partnered with SportGait in an effort to provide state-of-the-art concussion care to athletes throughout the Fox Valley.

This program offers a Baseline concussion test for any local athlete that does not already have access to a cognitive test through his/her club or school. These tests are to be done before a concussion occurs to establish a baseline, “or normal,” cognitive and motor score.

**A parent must be present for his/her child's testing session, and MUST bring his/her cellular phone as it will be used during the testing process.

Testing takes approximately 15 minutes. Please plan on appointment taking up to 30 minutes for proper instruction and directions.

Cost: $10 per baseline test

If a concussion is suspected, please contact an Ascension provider who is clinically trained in concussion management. A complete list can be found by contacting Nurse Direct at 1-800-362-9900.
