The birth of a child is one of the most cherished moments in life. The Birthing Center at Howard Young Medical Center offers several different opportunities for childbirth education. As you prepare for your hospitalization and birth experience, classes can be an important first step. You will learn about baby care basics and tips that will help you as you enter the next phase of parenting. Call the Birthing Center at 715.356.8500 for more information or to register.  

Prepared Childbirth Classes

Expectant mothers are encouraged to attend these classes with their partner or other support persons that will be their labor companion. Our classes focus on labor and delivery process, relaxation breathing and comfort measures. The instructors are experienced Birthing Center Registered Nurses.

Each series consists of four classes, held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00 pm or a full-day Saturday class held from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm in Classrooms 2 & 3 at Howard Young Medical Center. Registration is required as we may need to change dates or cancel for unexpected reasons and will let you know if that should occur.

Class 2:  Effective laboring skills
Class 3:  Your newborn is here
Class 4:  Breastfeeding/Family & Friends CPR for Infants

The cost is $25 for the 4-week series or full-day class. However, please do not let the fee prevent you from registering for a class.
