Effective January 1, 2012, the Neonatal Resuscitation Program requires that the HealthStream NRP online exam be completed within 90 days prior to the NRP Course. You must read the textbook Neonatal Resuscitation, 7th Edition, prior to the online exam. The online didactic presentation and exam highlight the textbook material on initial steps, equipment, bag/mask ventilation, cardiac compressions, bio-chemical resuscitation, ethical care and end of life issues of the neonate. You may find it helpful to visit and read the resources under the online examination tab.

If unavailable from your employer, the textbook can be purchased through Saint Thomas Health by visiting the AAP website: . It is also available as an eBook at

We provide the required hands-on interactive course. You successfully pass the course after you:

  1. Provide your certificate verifying that you have completed the online 7th edition NRP Program.
  2. Demonstrate the skills required within the context of a clinical scenario in correct sequence according to the NRP flow diagram, with correct timing and proper technique.
  3. Participate in simulation training and debriefing exercises.

If it is necessary for you to cancel your registration for this course, your registration fee will be refunded less a $20 administration fee, provided you notify us five days prior to your scheduled class. Failure to cancel five days prior to the scheduled class will forfeit the registration fee.
