Safwan Kassas, MD is an interventional cardiologist at Ascension St. Mary's in Saginaw, Michigan. He performs procedures to restore blood flow to the heart. Our cardiovascular specialists are part of an integrated, national network of heart care, sharing best practices and offering evaluation and treatment of the most complex heart conditions.

There's a lot to think about when deciding to have heart surgery. Dr. Kassas is here for you. He is part of our cardiac surgery care team, specializing in minimally invasive heart catheter based therapies for valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease.

Dr. Kassas is the founder and director of the structural heart disease program at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. In addition to performing a wide range of structural procedures, he is the national investigator of an atrial appendage closure multi-site study, the recipient of a highly competitive grant award from the national institute of health for new medical device development and an active site principal investigator in important structural trials such as the mitral valve repair study using the Carillon Contour device. Dr. Kassas has participated in numerous stem cell therapy trials in cardiovascular medicine and continues to offer this research-based therapy to candidates.

Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, traveling, and swimming.
