David T. Parrella, MD

David Parrella, MD, is an interventional neurologist with Ascension Saint Thomas Howell Allen Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Parrella specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of cerebral aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations, dural fistula, carotid disease and acute stroke.

As the director of Neurointerventional Surgery at Ascension Saint Thomas, Dr. Parrella is interested in developing stroke systems of care and the hyperacute treatment of large vessel occlusive disease. Dr. Parrella is board-certified in Neurology and CAST Certified in Neuroendovascular Surgery.

He is a senior member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS). Dr. Parrella completed his residency in Neurology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his fellowship in Vascular Neurology at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute. This was followed by a fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery at the University of Toronto, where he trained under Dr. Tom Marotta and Dr. Julian Spears.

Before joining Ascension Saint Thomas Howell Allen Clinic, Dr. Parrella was on the faculty at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where he was actively involved in medical education and neurointerventional clinical trials.

Outside of the office, Dr. Parrella enjoys spending time with his wife and children, archery, woodworking and skiing. He is also a strong supporter of Public Lands.
