As an Accredited Primary Stroke Center, Ascension Providence has the specific resources, staff and training to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases leading to better outcomes. The Joint Commission-certified PSCs and organizations seeking initial certification are required to adopt a set of standardized performance measures. Organizations collect monthly data for each measure in the set. The data is then submitted quarterly to The Joint Commission. The designation is for two years.
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
