A new initiative, Oklahomans Decide Healthcare, has been launched to put Medicaid expansion on the ballot. As we have watched 36 other states expand access to coverage, this is the first time that Oklahoma has a realistic opportunity to expand coverage for our hardworking family, friends and neighbors. If you haven’t already, please take the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the initiative and, if you would like to, pledge your support.
Recently, I had the opportunity to pen a LinkedIn post that explains my own rationale for supporting Medicaid Expansion. Similar to me, you might have your own reasons to support the cause. As an organization, Ascension St. John supports Medicaid expansion because our mission calls us to increase access and coverage to all who are in need, particularly the most poor and vulnerable.
Medicaid expansion would not only deliver healthcare to families who have jobs that don’t offer insurance, but would also boost our economy and bring more than a billion of our tax dollars home from Washington, D.C. every year. Tax dollars that are funding other states’ expansions and their healthier outcomes, but not ours. To make this happen, Oklahomans Decide Healthcare has to collect nearly 178,000 signatures before the end of this year to get healthcare on the ballot.

Thank you for your support.
