Our care team at Ascension St. John’s Trauma Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma provides 24/7 specialized care for adults with life-threatening injuries. Housed within Ascension St. John Medical Center, we have two heli-pads as well as numerous covered ambulance bays to receive trauma. We have three trauma resuscitation suites, complete with radiology capability and ultrasound and a CT scanner within the Emergency Department. We have a specialized NeuroTrauma intensive care unit and an ICU step down unit.

24-7 trauma care supports a three state area

In Oklahoma, Ascension St. John Medical Center is the only American College of Surgeons nationally certified Level II trauma center in the state. Our trauma surgeons and care team provide exceptional surgical care, including orthopedic reconstruction and brain and spine care to lung and heart resuscitation. We provide high-quality trauma care to over 3,000 patients annually from Northeastern Oklahoma, Northwestern Arkansas and Southeastern Kansas.

As an American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma (ACS/COT) certified Level II trauma center, we are recognized for meeting rigorous ASC/COT standards of care. Our trauma program is reviewed every three years by the ACS/COT to maintain this hard-earned honor. As a trauma center we benchmark our trauma care against other ACS trauma centers across the United States. Our trauma care exceeds TQIP benchmarks resulting in superior patient outcomes.

Specializing in G60 - Geriatric trauma care

The Ascension St. John Trauma Center was the first trauma program in the state of Oklahoma to establish a geriatric trauma program. Our G60 program delivers personalized care for the needs of adults, 60 years of age and older. Our multi-specialty care team of surgeons and internal medicine helps deliver a personalized care plan for your trauma injury, like an unexpected hip fracture, and your other health conditions. Our G60 program has delivered exceptional outcomes in older adults experiencing multi-system trauma or hip fracture.

Community based injury prevention programs

Our injury prevention coordinator leads an active trauma education and prevention program. The Ascension St. John care team is in the community and offers education programs upon request. Our injury prevention coordinator developed a county-wide Youth Drunk Driving program for first time, teen, drunk driver offenders. This program has helped to decrease second DUI offenses by those attending the court-ordered program by 97 percent .
