The Ascension Saint Agnes women’s health care team provides compassionate, personalized care. We listen to understand your health concerns, so you get the care that is right for you. Our doctors and care teams specialize in gynecologic care and minimally invasive procedures for many conditions, including:

  • Cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers. Regular well-woman exams and Pap smears are important in detecting cancers early.
  • Endometriosis affects approximately one in 10 women. Chronic pelvic pain and pain during intercourse are common symptoms.
  • Fibroids are benign (noncancerous) growths that may develop on the uterus or ovaries. Fibroids can cause chronic pain in the abdomen or lower back, heavy irregular menstrual bleeding, urinary pressure, constipation, and infertility
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding is a common condition that affects one in three women. There are several conditions that can cause heavy bleeding and irregularity.
  • Menopause and the years leading up to menopause (known as perimenopause) contributes to changes in a woman’s body. Our care team educates you with coping tools and care plans to manage symptoms, such as hot flashes.
  • Ovarian cysts, including functional, teratoma, cystadenoma, and endometrioma cysts affect a women’s health.
  • Pelvic floor disorders (PFD) result from weakened pelvic muscles or tissue tears. The bowel, bladder, uterus, vagina, and rectum may not be properly supported and cause pain and urinary incontinence.
  • Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) means the organs fall downward into the vagina. POP is caused by a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissues. Common symptoms of POP include vaginal dryness, trouble urinating, not being able to wear a tampon, and pressure from the bulge near the opening of the vagina.
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that can cause irregular menstrual bleeding, obesity, infertility, severe acne, and excess hair growth.
  • Sexual pain during intercourse can be a sign of a gynecologic condition. See your doctor when sexual pain is frequent and severe.
  • Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) are infections that cause skin rash, pain, vaginal discharge, lumps, blisters, or sores in the genital area. It is important to get checked if you notice any of these symptoms. Talk with your doctor about healthy, safe sex.
  • Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) causes bladder leaks when the body is under physical stress. Examples of activities that may cause leakage include sneezing, exercising, laughing or coughing. This condition affects one in three women over 45 years old. Pregnancy and childbirth, obesity, aging, and constipation are common risk factors for SUI.
