OB and Maternity Services Close to Home
In Southeast Wisconsin, Ascension’s six Hospitals have personalized, high-quality obstetrics and birth services for all types of families.
SE Wisconsin Maternity Birth Services
Each year one out of every three babies in Southeast Wisconsin is born at an Ascension Hospital. That’s more than 7,500 babies born at one of our six Ascension Southeast Wisconsin hospitals. Our OB and Maternity care team delivers more than babies — we deliver an exceptional family experience with trusted, compassionate care. We assess your medical, emotional and family needs to give you the highest level of care when you need it. Prenatal education starts at the first appointment.

Personalized Maternity Services
“We do low-risk and high-risk maternity, labor and delivery, and postpartum care really well. That matters because women want assurances that their care team is ready for any situation throughout the pregnancy.” – Matthew Lee, MD, OB-GYN, Medical Director, Ascension SE Wisconsin, OB and Maternity Services

This team coordinates care with your primary care doctor and puts preparations in place for your labor and delivery. If your baby needs neonatal intensive care, we have board-certified neonatologists and an intensive care team that specializes in newborn medicine at our three Level III (NICUs).
Specializing in High-risk Pregnancies
If you are in a high-risk pregnancy, our doctors and nurses specialize in managing health concerns at every stage of the pregnancy, including:
- High blood pressure in pregnancy (preeclampsia)
- Pre-term labor
- Diabetes and pregnancy
- Multiple gestations (twins, triplets)
- Pregnancy after age 35
Even with all the preparations in place, we know this type of pregnancy is stressful. Our Maternity and NICU care teams are known for their compassionate and personalized attention to the entire family.
A Family-centered Birth Experience
“Our doors are open to every type of family. We are inclusive of all types of pregnancies including traditional and non-traditional family units. With compassion and skill, we are here to help you have an exceptional birth experience.”
If you are experiencing a healthy, normal pregnancy, all six of our Ascension Southeast Wisconsin hospitals offer personalized birth experiences. The safety of mom and baby are paramount. Our experienced nurses are trained in the HANDS program (special training to improve all aspects of quality of care for safe labor and delivery).
Our private labor, delivery, and recovery suites are WI-FI friendly with comfortable furniture for your partner and support group.
In labor and delivery, our anesthesia specialists, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives are very experienced at guiding you through a vaginal birth, even if you had a cesarean section with your other children. Natural, holistic labor and delivery options are also available:
- Birthing balls
- Hydrotherapy tubs
- Squatting bars
Postpartum Care and Family Time
We encourage immediate post-birth, bonding. Our lactation consultants are available before, during and after to help you with breastfeeding and baby’s feeding schedule.
The best way to take care of your baby is to take care of yourself, before and during pregnancy and after the birth. Ascension Wisconsin offers many types of women’s health services. Talk to your doctor about healthcare services that fit the needs of you and your growing family.
